This Week In The Mix with HK

Throughout pop culture there have been pond jumping Brits that have influenced the US music scene. The British Invasion was a term coined in the 60's to describe the impact of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones on the American music charts. The second British Invasion came in the 80's. In April 1984, 40 of the top 100 singles on the US music charts were British acts. During the second British Invasion, music journalist Simon Reynolds speculated that, British acts such as The EurythmicsCulture ClubWham! and Paul Young were influenced by black American music which helped to fuel their success. MTV also played a part in the flood of British music coming to America in the 80's. The Human LeagueBig CountryFlock of Seagulls, and Simple Minds  all made kick ass  music videos. MTV was new on the scene and in need of great product to put on the air waves.

Are we in the middle of a third British Invasion? CAN YOU SAY- AdeleOne DirectionThe WantedCalvin HarrisTaio CruzCold PlayMumford & SonsEllie GouldingJessie J and Susan Boyle to name just a few.

I haven't put the HK sonic throw down to the Mumford boys or Susan "how do you like my makeover" Boyle yet, But I will be spinning custom HK Americana remixes on most of these Brits along with hits from Chris BrownKelly ClarksonFunHot Chelle RaeB.O.B., Nicki MinajMadonnaPitbull and my special cinematic remix of Taylor Swift's - "Eyes Open" from the blockbuster movie eating up the competition - "Hunger Games". It's all going down this week, so lock it in and rip the knob off!

Katy Perry - Part Of Me

One Direction-What Makes You Beautiful

This Week In The Mix with HK

The Boys are back in town and back with a vengeance. In the 90's boy bands like the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync dominated the music scene. Today One DirectionThe Wanted and Big Time Rush are filling the void in a recently dominated female landscape.

Big Time Rush did a sold out tour at Radio City Music Hall and will embark on an even bigger U.S. and Canadian tour this summer.  New Direction is now looking down on Adele and The Boss from the top of the Album Chart this week as they made Billboard history becoming  the first British act to ever debut at #1 with their first release. Then we have the boys of The Wanted who keep climbing up the hot 100 singles chart with "Glad You Came".

You'll be "Glad You Came" when you join me this weekend In The Mix with HK. I've got smokin hot new custom HK remixes on Kelly Clarkson -"Stronger", Flo Rida -"Good Feeling", Fun -"We Are Young", Jessie J -"Domino", All American Rejects -"Bookeeper's Daughter", Neon Hitch -"F.U. Betta" and of course The Wanted -"Glad You Came". So rest up, take a nap or just meditate. Because it's  almost time for me to drop that needle and when I do  the tunes are gonna be coming fast and furious in this non-stop music mix which promises to be off the hook.

The Wanted - Glad You Came

Fun - We Are Young

This Week In The Mix with HK

First it was music celebs in the movies and on tv. Now it's music celebrities as cover models. What's up with that? Drake will be featured on the April cover of GQ for the first-ever GQ Style Bible. Bruno Mars is only one of ten men to ever appear on the cover of Playboy. That's right I said Playboy. But fear not Playboy fans, he will be sharing the cover with sultry Miss April, Raquel Pomplun. Then we have the new pop princess of rap Nicki Minaj glaming it up on the April 2012 cover of Allure. Is there no end  to these artists creative endeavors? I hope not!

While the music community is tearing up the mag industry, I've been tearing up the decks with smokin new HK mixes on Nicki Minaj - "Starships", Adele's - "Rumor Has It", One Direction - "What Makes You Beautiful" and The Wanted - "Glad You Came". Be aware that your speakers may just blow up sometime during the show while you're listening to my sonic blast of the latest hits from Pitbull, Kelly Clarkson, Calvin Harris, Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Karmin, Havanna Brown and Outasight.

So set your dial and get ready to parrrrrrrrrty with me this weekend.

This Week In The Mix with HK

Ok, it's time to step away from the computer and force yourself to stop watching the live penguin cam from the San Diego Sea World. That's right! The penguins will continue to march on without you. And I promise when you go back…they'll still be there as if you never left.

Just like them I've been chillin' on ice, cause I like to keep it cold in the studio, and I've got a hot new show coming up for you this weekend.

I've got new HK mixes on Katy Perry - "Part Of Me", Madonna - "Give Me All Your Luv", Pitbull/Chris Brown - "International Love" and Rihanna - "We Found Love". I'm also planning on putting a new sonic seducing sound blast to Kelly Clarkson - "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)", Karmin - "Broken Hearted", and that brand new track from the Australian hottie…Havana Brown - "We Run The Night".
