This Week In The Mix with HK

Throughout pop culture there have been pond jumping Brits that have influenced the US music scene. The British Invasion was a term coined in the 60's to describe the impact of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones on the American music charts. The second British Invasion came in the 80's. In April 1984, 40 of the top 100 singles on the US music charts were British acts. During the second British Invasion, music journalist Simon Reynolds speculated that, British acts such as The EurythmicsCulture ClubWham! and Paul Young were influenced by black American music which helped to fuel their success. MTV also played a part in the flood of British music coming to America in the 80's. The Human LeagueBig CountryFlock of Seagulls, and Simple Minds  all made kick ass  music videos. MTV was new on the scene and in need of great product to put on the air waves.

Are we in the middle of a third British Invasion? CAN YOU SAY- AdeleOne DirectionThe WantedCalvin HarrisTaio CruzCold PlayMumford & SonsEllie GouldingJessie J and Susan Boyle to name just a few.

I haven't put the HK sonic throw down to the Mumford boys or Susan "how do you like my makeover" Boyle yet, But I will be spinning custom HK Americana remixes on most of these Brits along with hits from Chris BrownKelly ClarksonFunHot Chelle RaeB.O.B., Nicki MinajMadonnaPitbull and my special cinematic remix of Taylor Swift's - "Eyes Open" from the blockbuster movie eating up the competition - "Hunger Games". It's all going down this week, so lock it in and rip the knob off!

One Direction-What Makes You Beautiful

This Week In The Mix with HK

The Boys are back in town and back with a vengeance. In the 90's boy bands like the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync dominated the music scene. Today One DirectionThe Wanted and Big Time Rush are filling the void in a recently dominated female landscape.

Big Time Rush did a sold out tour at Radio City Music Hall and will embark on an even bigger U.S. and Canadian tour this summer.  New Direction is now looking down on Adele and The Boss from the top of the Album Chart this week as they made Billboard history becoming  the first British act to ever debut at #1 with their first release. Then we have the boys of The Wanted who keep climbing up the hot 100 singles chart with "Glad You Came".

You'll be "Glad You Came" when you join me this weekend In The Mix with HK. I've got smokin hot new custom HK remixes on Kelly Clarkson -"Stronger", Flo Rida -"Good Feeling", Fun -"We Are Young", Jessie J -"Domino", All American Rejects -"Bookeeper's Daughter", Neon Hitch -"F.U. Betta" and of course The Wanted -"Glad You Came". So rest up, take a nap or just meditate. Because it's  almost time for me to drop that needle and when I do  the tunes are gonna be coming fast and furious in this non-stop music mix which promises to be off the hook.
