Stella Bennett, aka Benne, the 20-year-old singer/songwriter from New Zealand didn’t have social distancing in mind when she came up with her viral hit Supalonely featuring Gus Dapperton. She penned the upbeat track laced with comic expression of self-pity during a songwriting trip to LA last year. With lyrics like “La La La La La I’m a Lonely B****” the song has morphed into an unintentional quarantine anthem. Benne says… “I wrote it about my breakup, but now everyone’s relating it to being isolated and not being able to see friends. I guess we’re all lonely b****es now.”

TWENTY ONE PILOTS HAVE A "LEVEL OF CONCERN"

Twenty One Pilots wrote and dropped a new track in this COVID-19 era of self-isolation. The song, Level Of Concern, is definitely influenced by the pandemic with lyrics like “Would you be my little Quarantine”. Of the single, Tyler tweeted; ”Always writing, but this one feels like it should just come out now. I think it’s simple but hopeful.” With intentions of spreading hope Tyler and Josh are donating a portion of the proceeds to Crew Nation a charity that supports laid off live music crews.

LOVE AND MUSIC IN THE AIR

The music community is stepping up and giving back during this scary time of COVID-19. Taylor Swift has helped a Nashville record store stay afloat by donating money to each employee and paying three months of their health care. Taylor’s also been quietly making donations to fans who have lost jobs due to the crisis. Selena Gomez has donated to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, the same hospital that has helped with her health issues including her 2017 kidney transplant. Last week Rihanna donated a whopping $5 million to COVID-19 relief efforts and this week she contributed another cool million that Jay-Z matched. Lizzo sent lunch to ER workers at various hospitals across the country. And the list goes on and on of donations and good deeds from celebrity artists and everyday people alike helping out in whatever way they can. 

This weekend I’m gonna do my best to send a happy distraction your way through the positive energy of music.
