THE CHAINSMOKERS ARE ADDICTIVE

The Chainsmokers will not be snuffed out and we couldn’t be happier! They’re rockin’ the airwaves, killin’ the charts and have several Grammy noms in their back pocket! With their recently dropped single, Paris, The dynamic duo notched their fourth Hot 100 Top 10 smash. Entering the chart at No. 7 Paris bests the No. 9 debut of Closer for their highest ranked release yet. Closer has extended its record for most weeks in the top 10 from a songs debut having camped out since August 20th for an incredible 25 weeks. If that wasn’t accomplishment enough The Chainsmokers have been in the top 10 for an amazing 38 consecutive weeks between Paris, Closer and the No. 3 –peaking, still in the Top 40, Don’t let me Down featuring Daya!

This weekend I won’t let you down! I’ve got exclusive HK remixes on new tracks from The Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, Daya, Clean Bandit and Flume all mixed and re-mixed to rock the house. Also comin’ to the party are Alessia Cara, Charli XCX, The Weeknd, Adele, Niall Horan, Maroon 5 and so much more! I’m ready to drop the needle on the weekend and the party jumps off right here!

COUNTDOWN TO THE GRAMMYS

Music’s biggest night is just a month away. Of course I’m talking about the Grammy Awards. As someone who’s been lucky enough to be a long time voting member of the Recording Academy, a previous Grammy nominee and Governor on the Board of the Grammys, as well as had the pleasure of working on 5 Grammy Award winning projects - I take the awards very seriously. The question I get asked most about the process (aside from “who ya voting for?”) is… "what’s the difference between Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year". These are two of the nights biggest awards. Come on, let's face it!!! We’re talking about the one song that ruled the year in music here! The Record Of The Year category recognizes the artist’s performance as well as the overall contributions of the producer(s), recording engineer(s) and/or mixer(s) if other than the artist. Basically those creative, often behind the scene, magicians who worked to make that song sound amazing. The Song Of The Year category is strictly a songwriters award and recognizes the incredible songwriter(s).

This week I’ll be recognizing some of the hottest tracks by means of re-imagined sonic productions! Get ready for exclusive HK remixes on Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Sia and Flume. All 2017 Grammy nominees by the way, plus wicked beats from Bruno Mars, Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha, Little Mix, Dua Lipa and Camilla Cabello. And of course there’re always brand new bangers with an HK twist. Like G-Eazy, Fitz & The Tantrums, Ed Sheeran, the Best New Artist nominee The Chainsmokers and so much more! Let’s get this party started!

HEY VIOLET AND MORE THIS WEEK ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

The LA based group Hey Violet began as the 4 girl hard rock band Cherri Bomb while its members were still in middle school. Since its inception the group has had a change of musical direction to punk-pop, the parting of a member, addition of guitarist and a bassist and is no longer an all-female band. They’ve  signed to 5 Seconds of Summer’s Label Hi Or Hey Records and have a new single Guys My Age making noise on the Pop charts!

This weekend I can’t help but make some noise with a custom HK remix on Hey Violet’s latest track Guys My Age plus the new hits from Charli XCX, G-Eazy, Clean Bandit & Anne-Marie! Also coming to this mix party are fresh beats from Zayn feat. Ms. Swift, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes, Hailee Steinfeld and SO MUCH MORE! The bass is gettin’ low and the volume’s goin’ up!

NEW YEAR NEW ALBUMS

It's a new year and we have a lot to look forward to in the music world. Dua Lipa, the London dark pop singer/songwriter is dropping her self-titled debut album in February. Also early this year Drake will deliver More Life . This next album promised to be the exclamation mark to the end of Drake’s wickedly successful 2016. Can't believe he's already throwing new music at us! Spring is expected to end the four year long wait for Lorde’s much anticipated sophomore outing. Also this spring, Charli XCX plans to drop her next LP saying “Most of the songs on the album are about partying or about falling in love with someone after partying”. Sounds like a solid album plan to me! Kelly Clarkson is setting a summer release that is a return to classic soul. Saying it is “the record that has been in me since junior high”.  Seems like it’s been since junior high since Christina Aguilera’s last full-length. Rumor has it this is the year she will present a new LP. And can we seriously go a third year without a new Taylor Swift album?! I have my money and my hopes on Taylor LP6 arriving before Christmas. After a very explosive split from Fifth Harmony and a huge hit with Machine Gun Kelly, Camila Cabello is on track (be it just whispers) to drop her first solo endeavor. Another past group member that shook things up upon departure, Niall Horan says his upcoming work will have a “folk-with-pop feel to it”. Justin Timberlake reportedly has at least six great tracks in the can but will we see his album this year? Justin says… "I guess I’m resigned to the fact that I’m a tortoise when it comes to this process.” So I’m sticking with cautious optimism. Back in 2015 Katy Perry’s manager said the pop star’s fourth album would be out by 2016. Since then studio update tweets have hinted at a not so far off release that I am counting on!

This week you can count a weekend party that will shake the walls! I’ll be droppin’ the needle on your fave chart toppers in custom HK remix style. Plus get ready for new bangers from The Chainsmokes feat. Phoebe Ryan, Dua Lipa, Fitz & The Tantrums, Flume and Lady Gaga. It’s all going down right here this weekend.
