AVA MAX & BILLIE EILISH BRING ATTENTION TO MENTAL HEALTH

Billie Eilish and Ava Max are using their celebrity to do good. Both are advocates for mental health in the new “Seize the Awkward” PSAs from the Ad Council and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Eilish and Max encourage talking openly about mental health struggles. Billie’s video highlights the importance of checking in on your loved ones and taking care of yourself. Eilish says “It doesn’t make you weak to ask for help”. Ava’s video reflects on her experiences in public high school after being home-schooled when she ended up eating lunch in the bathroom. She asks fans to “Seek help when you’re not feeling mentally there. Because we’ve all been there and it’s normal”.

LIL NAS X AND BILLY RAY CYRUS RODE THEIR HORSE TO #1

Lil Nas X’s smash hit Old Town Road featuring Billy Ray Cyrus has been the #1 song in the country for four weeks. According to an interview that Lil Nas did with Time magazine, the song was inspired by his personal life and is a message of loneliness and perseverance.

Just last year Lil Nas X was staying at his sister’s house, he had dropped out of college and his parents weren’t happy about it. X spent his days self-promoting his music but even that began to fall apart. Lil Nas said, “Old Town Road came after a period of feeling like I was out of options. I was living with my sister. She was pretty much fed up with me being there. That’s where the chorus lyric came from. It was me saying, ‘I want to leave everything behind…’ the ‘can’t nobody tell me nothing’ part is referring to my parents: wanting me to go back to school, not thinking it’s that likely for [me] to make it.” He said, “I felt like a loner cowboy, I wanted to take my horse to the Old Town Road and run away. The horse is like a car. The Old Town Road, it’s like a path to success”.

Congrats go out to Lil Nas X for staying true to his dream and going down that path to success.

This weekend I’m riding in with a bevy of remixes and mashups! Get ready for my spin on Old Town Road  plus custom HK remixes on P!nkDean LewisAriana Grande, KhalidThe Chainsmokers featuring 5SOSAlly BrookeSam Smith & Normani and so much more! WHO IS BILLIE EILISH

Billie Eilish with her angst, bleak lyrics, heavy on creep factor music videos and too-cool-too-care look is far from the new Brittney Spears but she maybe a Madonna/Nirvanaadaptation for Gen Z. She’s the anti-pop edgy artist who has grabbed the pop universe by the throat and is ready to take it home. This girl’s got skills! At 13 Billie recorded her first viral hit. Prior to turning 17 this December her songs had been streamed over a billion times. Eilish’s critically acclaimed debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where do We Go?, which dropped last month, debuted at No.1 and she currently has 8 tracks in the Hot 100! Billie and her 21 year old brother Finnias wrote and produced the songs almost exclusively in their childhood bedrooms. She designs her own merchandise and insists on near-complete control. Billie Eilish may not be the traditional pop star of old but she is a supernova that is rising fast and fans are obsessed!

I’m obsessed…with bringing you the BEST party soundtrack of the weekend! Get ready for exclusive HK remixes on Billie’s top 10 hit Bad Guy, plus remixes on H.E.R., MabelPost MaloneEllie Goulding & DiploThe Jonas BrothersLauren Daigle, Lil Naz X featuring Billy Ray CyrusAva MaxAriana GrandeLauv & Troy Sivan. Just a few months into 2019 and the ladies have already matched that number with Ariana Grande and Halsey leading the charge. BEBE'S "LAST HURRAH"

Bebe Rexha is climbing the charts with her latest banger and first single of 2019 – Last Hurrah. Bebe said the track was “Inspired by a friend. She was supposed to be on as diet and she ate a piece of chocolate cake and her husband was like aren’t you supposed to be on a diet? She responded to him by saying babe this is my last hurrah. Meaning it's gonna be one more night of me messing up.” Bebe says the track is all about seizing the night one last time, even if it means doing some bad things along the way.

DEAN LEWIS WILL "BE ALRIGHT"

I’d say Dean Lewis is more than alright. This week the Australian singer-songwriter tops the Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart for the very first time on the strength of his breakout single “Be Alright”. Lewis’s hit also reaches a new high on the Hot 100 climbing to an impressive No. 29. His first album, A Place We Knew, is due to drop March 22nd and he’s proud and excited about it. Lewis said “I’ve been able to write this album from what feels right.” On getting down to the 12 songs that made it on the final album he says, “I actually did about 60 songs, but…there were always ones that held their hand up.”

This weekend I’ve got the tunes to keep everybody’s hands up…and they’ll stay there! WHO IS FLETCHER

Cari Fletcher, known by her surname Fletcher, is a budding singer/songwriter from the Jersey shore whose songs have been streamed nearly 100 million times on Spotify. At the age of five she started taking classical vocal lessons and by seventeen competed on the first season of X Factor (US). She’s a graduate from NYU’s famed Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music  and just dropped her first single with Capitol Records, “Undrunk”.  Fletcher says the track is about “Wishing you could undo hooking up with somebody (and) undo loving somebody.”

One thing I don’t wannna “undo” is the sick remix of “Undrunk” that I’m working on for this weekend’s In The Mix with HK™. GRAMMY WEEKEND ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

This Sunday is music’s biggest night - The 61st Grammy® Awards!

Being a long time voting member of the Academy plus a previous Grammy® Nominee I take the awards very seriously. Record of the Year is another tuff one this year. This recently expanded category includes a song form all genres. Big hits like ZedMaren Morris and Grey’s “The Middle” and Drake’s “Gods Plan”, Cardi BBad Bunny and J Balvin’s “I Like It” and Post Malone and 21 Savag’s “Rockstar” are all nominated. Plus there are songs from film soundtracks like Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “All The Stars” from Black Panther and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow” from A Star Is Born standing with social commentary tracks like Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” and Brandi Carlile's “The Joke”. Not an easy decision to make but for me there is one standout. Who would you vote for? Seriously, I want to know, hit me up at @HowardHKKessler on twitter with your thoughts.

From the performance list for the show, which reads like a who’s who of the music industry, to the surprising speeches, historic fashion and tributes to Dolly Parton and Diana Ross with “Diamond Diana” preforming - DAMN! I love Grammy night!

Even better than Grammy night is Grammy weekend! I'm kicking it off on In The Mix with HK™! We’ll be talking Grammy gossip, what to expect on music's biggest night and I’ll be throwin’ down brand spankin' new custom HK remixes on hits from Ariana GrandePanic! SUPER BOWL WEEKEND - SUPER MUSIC ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

We all love the BIG GAME, but don’t underestimate the entertainment for heating up the field! First, there’s the singing of the National Anthem. Music legend, Atlanta native and seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight will do the honors this year. Gladys Knight may be the first to musically score but three time Grammy winners Maroon 5 are set to be the halftime MVP with Travis Scott as guest! If you don’t have a horse in the race the game is an opening act to the headlining halftime show. A no holds barred extravaganza, not to mention a virtual album seller as well as pressure cooker for the artists invited to the party. Performing for one of the world’s biggest audiences for twelve minutes, all the while trying to make a memorable and definitive statement…no worries right? With the killer halftime show, commercials you actually might want to watch, fun food and oh yeah…the championship football game of the year too, you gotta love Super Bowl Sunday!

I’ll give you another reason to love Super Bowl weekend. I’ve got possession of the perfect soundtrack to kick things off! SO WHO IS BENNY BLANCO?

Benny Blanco’s been ridiculously successful as a producer, writer and multi-instrumentalist for years. Benny told Rolling Stone… I remember asking all my friends and peers: “Hey, should I do this?
