In
April of 2011 Amy
Heidemann and Nick Noonan
of
Karmin blew up on the scene. It was their version of
Chris
Brown's "Look At Me Now" which caused a viral YouTube sensation and
subsequent props from hip-hop heavy weights that sent their
career soaring into hyper drive. An MTV critic raved
about Amy's rapping skills saying "Homegirl is a master emcee. Seriously. Don't
let the Charlotte-From-Sex-And-The-City-facade fool you - this girl can THROW IT
DOWN. No offense, Busta
Rhymes, but I think this girl just schooled you". Not only can
she spit, Amy can sing, write and play the guitar too! After their little
blogosphere explosion they performed with The Roots at Tufts
University and made an apperance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show
. All of which lead to a signing with Epic Records. Their first release
"Brokenhearted", which Amy says tells the story of how she and Nick first met,
has gone platinum and the second single "Hello" is sprinting up the charts. Not
bad for two small town crazy kids in love who, not that long ago, worked as a
wedding singer and wrote raw music in their living room with a guitar and a
wooden box for a drum.
