Lukas
Graham lived in
Buenos Aires and New York after high school but eventually moved back to his
home of Denmark to start the band which bears his name. After the unexpected
loss of his father, Graham began channeling his grief through
songwriting. The result of that process is 7 Years. Graham says in an interview
with USA TODAY- “It was definitely cathartic to write – it’s weird to describe
what it’s like to lose a parent”. Regarding fan responses to the song he says –
“most are quite positive, but some people find it very sad and dispiriting,
where I find it empowering. It’s supposed to give you life energy”. 7 Years has
certainly resonated with many fans as it is #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this
week. Which is perfect timing for the release of their self-titled album
dropping today.
It’s
been five years since posting one of the band’s first songs on YouTube but this
is the year that Graham describes as “amazing”. Also amazing are my plans for
remixing 7 Years this week on In The Mix with HK™.
No April
foolin’ going on here just straight up jams! This week I’m featuring exclusive HK
remixes on Fifth Harmony, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Taylor
Swift and many more. Plus brand new bangers from Melanie Martinez, Iggy
Azalea and Xenia Ghali. There’s also gonna be a mind blowing
re-imagined Beatles track. You heard me! And you don’t want to miss it!
It’s all going down right here this weekend on In The Mix with HK™!
Remember…if
it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.
