The Top 10 Artists of 2017 have been named by Billboard and they are all men. Don’t
worry ladies, we know you’ll rule again. (Wait…I was just reminded that you
always rule.) For me it’s hard to believe there isn’t one single female act on
the list. It’s even harder to believe that this is the third time the entire
Top 10 have been all-male acts or solo men. The last time the guys dominated
the year-end chart was way back in 1984. So where’s the female representation?
It looks like hip-hop acts had a big voice on the charts and that’s pretty much
a male–dominated genre. Plus pop’s two biggest stars, Adele and Taylor Swift,
were between albums for most of the chart year. So who’s the big guy winner
this year? With his second No. 1 album and a plethora of hit singles including
the No. 1 song of the year- Ed Sheeran has been named 2017 Top
Artist.
