PINK PERSISTENCE

Talk about never giving up. Pink was in two bands before her solo career took flight. The first broke up after losing a battle of the bands competition. Her second, an R&B group named Choice, broke up after making a couple songs. She stuck with it though and eventually got a solo record deal, which led to the incredible success of her debut in 2000.

BILLIE EILISH BACKSTAGE AND IN THE MIX WITH HK™

Billie Eilish has been selling out venues across the country in minutes as her concert tour promotes her musical world domination…oh yeah and her album too. Said debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? released March 29^th made Eilish the first artist born in the 2000’s to have a number one album in the US. The concert was just as impressive with a very comfortable 17 year old Billie dancing and singing her hits as the crowd sang every single word to every single song along with her. My favorite part was when Eilish and her brother Finneas, who produced the album and co-wrote the songs with Billie, got on a bed to perform “I love you”. She explained “We want to perform this exactly how we created it, which was on a bed.” As Eilish sang and her brother played, the bed levitated above the stage and the crowd went CRAZY!

AVA MAX & BILLIE EILISH BRING ATTENTION TO MENTAL HEALTH

Billie Eilish and Ava Max are using their celebrity to do good. Both are advocates for mental health in the new “Seize the Awkward” PSAs from the Ad Council and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Eilish and Max encourage talking openly about mental health struggles. Billie’s video highlights the importance of checking in on your loved ones and taking care of yourself. Eilish says “It doesn’t make you weak to ask for help”. Ava’s video reflects on her experiences in public high school after being home-schooled when she ended up eating lunch in the bathroom. She asks fans to “Seek help when you’re not feeling mentally there. Because we’ve all been there and it’s normal”.

Timberlake’s been a media magnet since he released Filthy, the first single off his upcoming album, Man of the Woods that’s set to drop on Feb. 2^nd. Filthy already has a #1 fan- according to his superstar parents, Silas, Justin’s two year old son, is said to sing the lyrics to himself in the mirror. Timberlake’s last album was out in 2013 so there’s a lot of hype, anticipation and speculation going around. One of Timberlake’s producers, Danja says to expect country, blues and soul from his latest endeavor. THE BOYS ARE BACK!

The Top 10 Artists of 2017 have been named by Billboard and they are all men. Don’t worry ladies, we know you’ll rule again. (Wait…I was just reminded that you always rule.) For me it’s hard to believe there isn’t one single female act on the list. It’s even harder to believe that this is the third time the entire Top 10 have been all-male acts or solo men. The last time the guys dominated the year-end chart was way back in 1984. So where’s the female representation? It looks like hip-hop acts had a big voice on the charts and that’s pretty much a male–dominated genre. Plus pop’s two biggest stars, Adele and Taylor Swift, were between albums for most of the chart year. So who’s the big guy winner this year? With his second No. 1 album and a plethora of hit singles including the No. 1 song of the year- Ed Sheeran has been named 2017 Top Artist.

In a compilation of comments from the women being honored Demi said-“They said that I wouldn’t make it, but here I am”.
