The holiday season brings many a party and lots of joy. KESHA'S "RAISING HELL"

Kesha’s dropped the lead single Raising Hell from her upcoming album High Road due out January 10^th. THE MAN WITH THE MIDAS TOUCH...ZEDD

Bebe Rexha and country artists Florida Georgia Line have a double genre hit with their collab Meant To Be. Zedd has now tapped into that country magic with his new track, The Middle, featuring vocals by Grammy award winning country artist Maren Morris. But that’s where the country connection begins and ends. Unlike the Bebe/FGL song, “The Middle” is a straight up POP song that makes you want to dance. And considering Zedd’s success with producing female vocalists expect this one to go straight to the top. He’s had hits in the past with Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Alessia Cara, Haley Williams, Hailee Steinfeld and Foxes. I personally believe that he is one of the most talented Producer, DJ, Artists in the game!

When it comes to his experience working with Maren Morris, Zedd told People Magazine… “Grey and I went through roughly 15 different vocalist – mostly pop and lots of A-Listers – but it just didn’t fit. Then I jetted off to Nashville to meet Morris and within 30 minutes knew she was the one”.  Zedd says… “It had nothing to do with country. I don’t care about the genre you’re in. If you sing the song and I want to cry, then I know it’s perfect.”

I’ve got the perfect soundtrack this weekend, filled with exclusive HK remixes on Dua Lipa, N.E.R.D. & Rihanna, Macklemore & Kesha, Post Malone, Camila Cabello and so much more! I’ve also got the cure for your mid-winter blues. New bangers from Troye Sivan, Jack & Jack, Joe Bermudez feat. Louise Carver and of course Zedd featuring Maren Morris and Grey.

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.

SUPER BOWL - SUPER MUSIC ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

We all love the game but don’t underestimate the entertainment for heating up the field! First, there’s the singing of the National Anthem. Three-time Grammy winner P!nk will do the honors this year. Of course P!nk’s just getting the party started. The halftime show is the main musical event. A no holds barred extravaganza, not to mention a virtual album seller as well as pressure cooker for the artists invited to the party. Perform for one of the world’s biggest audiences for twelve minutes, all the while trying to make a killer definitive statement…no worries right? Who doesn’t love watching this stuff plus you never know if there will be another wardrobe malfunction! This year Justin Timberlake will take the mid-field stage with about 115 million of us watching and ready to jam out! Oh yeah and there’s a football game too! You gotta love Super Bowl Sunday!

I’ll give you another reason to love Super Bowl weekend. I’ve got possession of the perfect soundtrack to kick things off! It’s gonna be a party blitz with exclusive HK remixes on Dua Lipa, N.E.R.D. & Rihanna, P!nk, G-Eazy & Halsey, Macklemore, Max, Selena Gomez and so much more! I’ll be punting new beats from Kesha featuring Dap-Kings and of course Zedd featuring Maren Morris and Grey. You never know how the big game will turn out but I know we’re gonna be turnin’ it out this weekend.

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.

THE BOYS ARE BACK!

The Top 10 Artists of 2017 have been named by Billboard and they are all men. Don’t worry ladies, we know you’ll rule again. (Wait…I was just reminded that you always rule.) For me it’s hard to believe there isn’t one single female act on the list. It’s even harder to believe that this is the third time the entire Top 10 have been all-male acts or solo men. The last time the guys dominated the year-end chart was way back in 1984. So where’s the female representation? It looks like hip-hop acts had a big voice on the charts and that’s pretty much a male–dominated genre. Plus pop’s two biggest stars, Adele and Taylor Swift, were between albums for most of the chart year. So who’s the big guy winner this year? With his second No. 1 album and a plethora of hit singles including the No. 1 song of the year- Ed Sheeran has been named 2017 Top Artist.

My year-end show will contain many of the year’s top artists and top hits, but this weekend I’m bringing the current and new musical heat on In The Mix with HK™! Get ready to shake your mistletoe with exclusive HK remixes on Selena Gomez & Marshmello, NF, Clean Bandit feat. Julia Michaels, P!nk, Khalid, Macklemore feat. Kesha and of course Ed Sheeran. Plus new bangers from Bebe Rexha, BTS, G-Eazy & Halsey and Axwell & Ingrosso are gonna be droppin’ like snowflakes in a blizzard. And that’s just getting’ the Yule Log lit! I’m packing all sorts of mad crazy beats to set your holiday party off!

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™ .

WOMEN IN MUSIC AND IN THE MIX WITH HK

Congrats go out to the strong and inspiring women who have been in the news for their contributions to music and the world this week! Selena Gomez was named Billboards 2017 Woman of the Year and Demi Lovato and P!nk were named on People’s 25 Women Changing the World  list. In a compilation of comments from the women being honored Demi said-“They said that I wouldn’t make it, but here I am”. P!nk stated “They all said I couldn’t do any of the things I’m doing now”.  Well, I know what I’m doing now and that’s workin’ on remixes of these amazing ladies hits for you!

This weekend I’m gonna fire up the decks with Selena’s brand new banger, Demi and P!ink’s chart toppers plus exclusive HK  remixes on Imagine Dragons, Halsey, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Kesha, Charlie Puth , Camila Cabello, Zayne and so much more! Like a mashup that will require a serious increase in volume and a throwback that will make you say WTF was that!!! The tracks are hot and the bass is thumping.

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.

Portugal. The Man Is A Band From Alaska!

Portugal. The Man isn't a man, it's a band and they're not from Portugal. They hail from Portland Oregon by-way-of Alaska. And they have their first mainstream Top 20 hit on their hands with “Feel It Still”. While they may be new to some people, Portugal. The Man’s debut album was released in 2006 and their current album Woodstock  is their eighth. When Billboard asked vocalist John Gourley why he thinks “Feel It Still” is their first song to crack the Hot 100  he said; “Anytime you borrow – or should I say, buy – the melody from (The Marvelettes) “Please Mr. Postman”, I feel like it should work. (This song) came about so naturally, just bass and a vocal. You can’t plan that stuff though, I’d like to think I could sit down and say ‘Hey guys, let’s write a hit,’ but there’s something really natural about this song and the way it came together.” It also doesn’t hurt that the song is used in a Vitaminwater ad with Aaron Paul dancing on a treadmill.

This weekend I’ll be dancin’ behind the decks when I cook up a custom HK remix on “Feel It Still” along with other bangers from Demi Lovato, Jonas Blue, Niall Horan, Kesha and that’s just the tip of my sonic iceberg. I can’t wait to spin some magic on brand spankin' new tracks from Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, P!nk, Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson. The musical mayhem kicks into full gear when I mashup some of your favorite throwbacks. It’s a party you don’t wanna miss.

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.

MACK IS BACK!

Macklemore is back with a preview single from his upcoming first solo album in nearly 12 years. That’s right it’s a “solo album” cause he and Ryan Lewis are on a…break. Macklemore says of the split: “Lewis is my brother forever. There will be more M&RL music to come when the time is right. Last November, I built a studio in the basement of my home and got back to basics. I was able to find a balance with my art, recovery and being a dad. I wanted to make an album and raise my baby girl.” The first track from Macklemore’s new album is Glorious, featuring Skyler Grey. It’s starting to climb the charts and I’m getting ready to climb all over those beats!

This weekend on In The Mix with HK™ check out Macklemore’s new banger! Plus I’m workin’ on custom HK remixes of hits from Hailee Steinfeld, Shawn Mendes, Kesha, DJ Khaled, Liam Payne, Zedd, Major Lazer and so much more! SELENA - IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!

Selena Gomez may be singing “It Ain’t Me” but the good news is…it really is! Just this week it was announced she'll be in the next Woody Allen film. Gomez recently executive produced the hit Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and has finished recording the voice of Mavis in the upcoming Hotel Transylvania 3 set to bow in September 2018. Coach just announced a Coach x Selena Gomez Collection of accessories that will be available globally on September 1^st. On the personal side, Selena 25 and The Weeknd 27 have been dating for more than six months and she says she couldn’t be happier. She has a lot to be happy about. With three songs currently in the Billboard Hot 100 Selena is on FIRE and I’m amped to work and rework a couple of those hits this weekend!

COUPLES MIX BIZ WITH PLEASURE ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

Music and love go hand in hand and over the years there have been many a famous musical couple making hits together. From Sonny & Cher to Johnny Cash & June Carter musical romances have turned out great tunes and great tabloids. Katy Perry & John Mayer definitely had it going on. Now Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton (FYI-on their second music power relationship) just dropped a new duet and are set to perform that track together on The Voice this Monday. But for me its Beyoncé & Jay Z that rule the romance/music collab world. Will Taylor Swift & Calvin be the next love birds to make beautiful music together and take the crown? Or will this week’s Pick To Hit™ artists, Zedd & Kesha’s True Colors turn into true romance and make them the new music power couple? I can’t wait to find out!

I REALLY can’t wait to hit the wheels of steel for your weekend party soundtrack! On tap for this week’s In The Mix with HK™ are exclusive HK remixes on Troy Sivan, Selena Gomez, Flo Rida, and Lukas Graham. Plus new bangers from Zedd f/ Kesha, Coldplay f/Beyoncé, Pink and Daya! It’s an all-out party jam you don’t want to miss!

I LOVE SINGERS WHO WRITE THEIR OWN SONGS!

Typically in the music biz singers sing, songwriters write and musicians compose. Then they all come together to make sonic magic. It’s hard enough to be a successful vocalist in this industry, but for those artists with killer pipes, who give you goosebumps with their performance of a song and they wrote it too – mad props!

Some of my fave singer songwriters in pop music right now are Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Pharrell Williams, Katie Perry, Ryan Tedder, Bruno Mars, Adel and Ne-Yo. Amazingly many singer songwriters create songs for other artists too. Take Charli XCX who wrote Boom Clap for Hilary Duff but it was rejected for supposedly not being cool enough. She also wrote I Love It for Icona Pop and the hook for Iggys summer anthem Fancy. Ke$ha who has said she primarily considers herself a songwriter has given us hits like Tik Tok  and We R Who We R but she also penned Till the World Ends for Britney Spears. Ke$ha said… “That song was written specifically for Britney - I put my brain in Britney Spears land and wrote that whole song for her”. Singer Jessie J wrote hits for herself such as Domino and Price Tag  but she’s also written for many others. Jessie penned Miley Cyrus' No. 1 hit Party In The USA. She says of song writing: "You’ve got to write songs, that’s where the money is. Party In the U.S.A paid my rent for, like, three years. Actually, it was longer than that. That’s where I get most of my money. Jessie explained further in an interview with RWD magazine: "I recorded Party In The U.S.A., played it for the label but they didn't think it was right for me. So they pitched it (to Miley) and two weeks later it was number one in six countries". Sia who has written many hits including her smash Chandelier also co-wrote Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself) by Ne-Yo and Diamonds for Rihanna. Sia claims she wrote Diamonds in just 14 minutes. What do those royalties translate to in dollars per minute???? Mucho dinero! I have got to start writing more songs!

For now I’m pumped to be shreddin’ all the hits on the wheels of steel for you this weekend. Get ready for a massive show including EXCLUSIVE new mixes on Maroon 5, Zedd/Selena Gomez, Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth, David Guetta/Nicki Minaj and George Ezra. Plus brand new HK bangers on Carly Rae Jepsen, Ryn Weaver, Sheppard, Nate Ruess, Lunchmoney Lewis and more!

Remember…If it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.
