Recording artists becoming movie stars is nothing new. But
it is crazy amazing for a successful pop artist to become a critically
acclaimed actor. From Cher, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand and Jennifer
Hudson taking home Oscars to Lady Gaga, Queen
Latifah, Mary J Blige, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, Mark Wahlberg and Will
Smith having Oscar nominations for their acting chops, the double
threat is real. Hell, there’s been great performances from recording artists on
screen from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Prince, Mariah
Carey, Elvis Presley, Ice Cube, Harry
Styles, Lenny Kravitz, Beyonce, Eminem, Rihanna and many
more. This year Pop stars are once again taking on the immense challenge of the
big screen. Ed Sheeran’s playing himself (ok, not as great of
a challenge as some roles…but still) in the Beatles inspired rom-com,
“Yesterday”. Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Lizzoare
in the modern Robin Hood/stripper (yes I just put those words together) story,
“Hustlers” out this September. And the much anticipated movie musical “Cats”,
set to drop in December, will star Jennifer Hudson, Jason
Derulo and the “could she be cast more perfectly”, Taylor Swift.
This weekend I’m taking on the best party music challenge
with exclusive HK remixes of some of these recording artists
turned movie stars. Get ready to turn up the volume on remixes of hit tracks
