SUPER BOWL WEEKEND & SUPER MUSIC ON IN THE MIX With HK™

We all love the BIG GAME, but don’t underestimate the entertainment for heating up the field! Kicking things off with the National Anthem are R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan and country singer Eric Church. Then The Weeknd plans on scoring big with his halftime show. The singer put $7 million of his own money into this year’s performance. His manager says the Weeknd fronted the money to make this halftime show be what he envisioned. With the highly anticipated musical performances, commercials you actually might want to watch, fun food and oh yeah…the championship football game of the year too, you gotta love Super Bowl Sunday!

HARRY STYLES IS GOLDEN

Harry Styles latest track Golden is cruising up the charts. Harry said his favorite memory from making his current album was the day they wrote Golden. Saying – We were all sitting in the kitchen at (Rick Rubin's recording studio in Malibu) Shangri La, having dinner, and we played it on one guitar while everyone sang around the table. He went on to say, “I used to drive to the studio, and it’s the perfect Pacific Coast Highway song. It’s like driving down the coast is what the song is for.”

24KGOLDN TURNING 20 AND #1

Golden Landis Von Jones better known as 24KGoldn has reason to celebrate. On Friday he turns 20 and his track Mood, featuring Iann Dior is the #1 song in the country…again. But Goldn almost didn’t pursue music. As a child he did commercial acting and was in Lunchables, Honda and Blue Diamond Almond commercials. Then Goldn was studying finance and loving campus life at USC . He says “Before I realized I could do music professionally, my whole plan was to become a hedge fund manager. Thank God I didn’t do that.”  We’re all glad Goldn took the singer, rapper, songwriter road.

Bebe Rexha just landed her first feature film acting role in Queenpins, with Kristen Bell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Vince Vaughn. The flick’s about a housewife who starts an illegal coupon club, cheating big corporations out of millions of dollars. It’s based on a true story of the largest coupon counterfeit scam in U.S. history. Bebe will play a computer hacker who helps pull off the scam. Bebe’s not only making noise in Hollywood she’s also In The Mix with HK™ and climbing the charts with her latest track Baby, I’m Jealous featuring Doja Cat.

At 17 Tate McRae has accomplished a lot. When she was just 13 she was the first Canadian finalist on America’s So You Think You Can Dance TV show. Tate also was a dancer preforming on stage with Justin Bieber for his Purpose Tour. It was in 2017 that she swerved from dancing to music and now her song You Broke Me First is starting to make noise on the charts .

Jason Derulo has the #1 song in the country with a little help from BTS. Savage Love (Laxed – Siern Beat), Derulo’s hit collab with Jawsh 685’s been hanging out on the charts for several months. Now it got a little remix love from BTS and it blasted to the top. This marks Jason’s second #1 hit. His first came almost 12 years ago with the debut single Whatcha Say, which, I seriously need to dust off and mess with.

BTS has the #1 song in the country for the second week in a row with the track Dynamite. It’s their first English-language single and the first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 by an all-South Korean act. Dynamite is also the biggest stateside hit of BTS’s career raking up a sic 17.5 million U.S. streams in the first week of its release. Fellow Korean K-Pop girl group, Blackpink has their own success to celebrate. Their latest track Ice Cream, a collab with Selena Gomez, is number one globally on YouTube and they’re getting a Netflix documentary set to air next month.

Recording artists becoming movie stars is nothing new. But it is crazy amazing for a successful pop artist to become a critically acclaimed actor. From Cher, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand and Jennifer Hudson taking home Oscars to Lady Gaga, Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, Mark Wahlberg and Will Smith having Oscar nominations for their acting chops, the double threat is real. Hell, there’s been great performances from recording artists on screen from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Prince, Mariah Carey, Elvis Presley, Ice Cube, Harry Styles, Lenny Kravitz, Beyonce, Eminem, Rihanna and many more. NICKI MINAJ HAS BIG BEATS & BIG BEEFS

No one can dispute that Nicki Minaj can spit and make hit tracks but her mission to come out on top has landed her in more than a few feuds. Going way back to mocking the rising star Iggy Azalea at the BET Awards. Niki was caught on camera spoofing Azalea’s dancing as Iggy preformed her #1 smash, “Fancy”.  Then after beating out Azalea for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Minaj insinuated that Iggy doesn’t write her own raps. There were also her beefs with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lil’ Kim and Remy Ma. And who can forget the Mariah/Minaj war played out on American Idol? When Minaj’s album recently debuted at No. 2 behind Travis Scott’s she accused him of using underhanded tactics to push his album forward and said she wanted to “punch him”. Ms. Minaj has reportedly gone as far as to threatening the lives of Mariah Carey and Cardi B. Things recently got real with Cardi B and Nicki at the now infamous New York Fashion Week smack down. Nicki, we love your music but perhaps letting your talent speak for itself and playing nice with those who may share the spotlight might keep the flying shoes at bay.

Bebe’s latest smash, “I’m A Mess”, is climbing up the charts. Rexha says her inspiration behind it was finding out on Instagram that a guy she really liked was dating another girl. The very same day she had a session with songwriter Justin Tranter. Upon arriving to the studio Bebe said “I’m sorry but I’m a mess”. Tranter responded “Really? That’s perfect. That’s the name of the song”. Rexha said they wrote the track in literally two hours. “And the second I heard my voice on the record, I just knew it was magic”.

CYRUS SISTERS GET MIXED UP ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

There’s certainly no lack of talent in the Cyrus family. Maybe it was inevitable for Noah Cyrus to follow in her 24 year old sister Miley, 28 year old brother Trace (a member or the pop-rock band Metro Station) and her country artist father, Billy Ray’s footsteps. Just Monday Jonas attended the New York premier for the new James Franco-produced film Goat (opening this weekend), which he stars in and word is he gave an outstanding performance. What’s next for this singer/songwriter, guitarist, drummer, keyboardist, actor? He’s is off to Hawaii to start shooting Jumanji with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. Despite Nick’s love for acting he says that music is still his passion.
