PRIORY SHARES STUDIO LIFE IN THE MIX WITH HK™

Priory is that underdog band that stops at nothing in their attempt to make it big. The duo Brandon Rush and Kyle Sears are music obsessed friends with sick talent. They quit their day jobs and sold all earthly possessions including their own blood plasma (now that’s dedication!) to make ends meet and build a studio in a decrepit Portland cement factory. These guys put everything on the line for bodacious beats and now their jam Weekend just broke the Media Base Top 40 and Priory is named one of MTV’s 2015 Artists to Watch! This week I talk with Priory about how their album came together and the trials and tribulations of building, owning and running your own studio.

Like Priory says “It’s the Weekend” and that means a bass banging party on In The Mix with HK™! Set your volume to sonic blast cause I’m hittin’ you hard with custom HK remixes of Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk, Taylor Swift – Style, Ella Henderson – Ghost, Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life, Jessie J – Masterpiece, Nick Jonas – Chains, Selena Gomez – Heart Wants What It Wants and SO MUCH MORE!

This Valentines weekend the heart wants all the hits like you’ve never heard them before! So tune in for an In The Mix with HK™ event that’ll keep your heart poundin’!

MUSIC IN THE TWITTERSPHERE

We always knew music ruled the world.  Now, according to Twitter, music is the MOST discussed topic on their social media site. The Twitter class of 2014 shapes up like this…Justin Bieber was the most tweeted about artist. Pharell's Happy was the most tweeted about song. Beyonce' had the most tweeted about album. Katy Perry has the most followers, but 2015 is my year to catch her (haha!). Come on people! We can do this! Follow me on twitter @HowardHKKessler and you could walk away with cool limited edition HK swag! Winners are randomly selected monthly.

TAYLOR SWIFT CAN'T SHAKE OFF SUCCESS!

There is success and then there’s “Taylor Swift Success”. At a time when album sales are way way down, her new album, 1989, sold over one million copies in its first week of release. To put it in perspective, that is two copies being sold every second!  Making it the biggest album released in 2014. In fact no other single artist album has gone platinum all…year...long, not  even Beyoncé’s secret album or Lord’s Pure Heroine.  And Taylor did it in just a week!!! Hmmmm… I wonder who last rang up that cray zay amount of sales in a mere seven days??? Oh yeah, the last artist to sell one million albums in one week was… what’s her name again… that would be Taylor Swift with her Red album in 2012!!!! Actually it’s a hat trick. Her 2010 album Speak Now also went platinum in a week. Making Ms. Swift the only act EVER to have three albums sell a million copies in a weeks’ time!

Well, so much for feeling good about what I did last week. I guess I'm just gonna have to Shake It Off. That’s right, I’m comin’ in hot this weekend with custom HK remixes on Taylor, Jessie J + company, Calvin Harris, Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5, Nick Jonas, Alesso, Echosmith and a list to long to name here! Plus brand new bangers from David Guetta, Charli XCX, Ella Henderson, Naughty Boy, R3hab + more!.

It’s a clean sweep with Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora holding down the one through five spots on the Billboard Hot 100 this week! This talented group is belting out those wickedly infectious songs that we just can’t get out of our head and this weekend I’m taking their hits to a whole new decibel level!

Your speakers are going to say “Thank You” when I drop the needle on custom HK remixes of Anaconda, All About That Bass, Boom Clap, Chandelier, Bang Bang and so much more! So rest, hydrate and repeat in preparation for this weekend, when I’ll be tearing the roof off!

MUSIC AND LAUGHTER FILL MY SOUL

Like everyone this week my jaw dropped when I heard Robin Williams had died. Then when more info of his death revealed he took his own life, I was in shock. Even though I was well aware of his past drinking and drug abuse, it's hard to believe this man – who was capable of so much humor and depth – was incapable of his own self happiness. His battle with depression was a terrible one, but he still managed to fill our hearts and souls with much laughter and incredible serious work as well.

As I headed into the IN THE MIX WITH HK™ studios this week, Robin's spirit was with me in the groove. All I could think about was how music and laughter fill my soul. They both come from such a passionate place, yet often times need no explanation.

The only thing I want to explain right now is how you should prepare yourself for the most amazing sonic experience this weekend. It's gonna be an over the top party bound to leave you feeling invigorated and more alive! From a rebirth of Disclosure's – Latch to my heart-pumping take on Ed Sheeran's – Don't, it will leave you with a Bang Bang to the head from Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj and more!

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix With HK™.

THE GIRLS ARE ON TOP!

This summer there is definitely a small group of ladies who are on top of their game and on top of the charts. You know who they are. You can hear them everywhere. Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Charli XCX and Rita Ora. They've got hits on their own and hits together. Ariana teamed up with Iggy for arguably one of the summer's biggest hits - Problem and now has Break Free with Zedd shooting up the charts. But wait! This pint sized little powerhouse just dropped a slammin' new collab with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj entitled Bang Bang. And I suggest you get out of the way cause this one is gonna explode. Iggy has the other contender for #1 song of the summer with Fancy, which she did with Charli XCX, and that song just won't go away. Charli also has her solo hit Boom Clap sitting in the top 10 and it's still climbing. Meanwhile, Iggy has her new collab with Rita Ora - Black Widow rushing up the chart. Which takes us to Rita, who has her own I Will Never Let You Down blazing high up the charts.

See what I'm talking about. These ladies are on top with multiple…simultaneous…HITS!

So with that in mind, I'm gonna bring you multiple eargasms while you're IN THE MIX WITH HK™ all weekend long all around the world.

You'll hear what I've done to all those fine ladies plus Magic! - Rude, Echosmith – Cool Kids, Sia – Chandelier, Coldplay – A Sky Full Of Stars and Tove Lo – Habits (Stay High). I'm also packing brand new exclusive HK remixes on Maroon 5 – Maps, One Republic – Love Runs Out, Ed Sheeran – Don't, G.R.L. - Ugly Heart and of course Nico & Vinz – Am I Wrong. There's so much more and it's all in commercial free mixed music sets. Get ready to hit the record button!!!
