Sophie Ellis-Bextor's iconic hit, “Murder on the Dancefloor,” has experienced a resurgence in popularity, thanks to its inclusion in the closing scenes of the acclaimed film, Saltburn. The song was originally released in 2001 as part of Ellis-Bextor’s debut album, “Read My Lips.” The track garnered significant attention upon its initial release, becoming the singer’s most successful song to date. However, its presence in Saltburn has reignited interest, leading to millions of additional streams and views.

SUPER BOWL WEEKEND - SUPER MUSIC ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

We all love the BIG GAME, but don’t underestimate the entertainment for heating up the field! First, there’s the singing of the National Anthem. Music legend, Atlanta native and seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight will do the honors this year. Gladys Knight may be the first to musically score but three time Grammy winners Maroon 5 are set to be the halftime MVP with Travis Scott as guest! If you don’t have a horse in the race the game is an opening act to the headlining halftime show. A no holds barred extravaganza, not to mention a virtual album seller as well as pressure cooker for the artists invited to the party. Performing for one of the world’s biggest audiences for twelve minutes, all the while trying to make a memorable and definitive statement…no worries right? Drake has spent the past 10 weeks as the #1 song in America with his smash,“In My Feelings”. This Week Drizzy settles in at #2, making way for Maroon 5 to take the top spot with their hit “Girls Like You”. This is the group’s first chart topper since “One More Night”  took over the summit back in 2012 and their forth #1 song overall. Adam Levine says “Reaching this milestone again is a dream for this band” and he doesn’t take this accomplishment for granted.

NICKI MINAJ HAS BIG BEATS & BIG BEEFS

No one can dispute that Nicki Minaj can spit and make hit tracks but her mission to come out on top has landed her in more than a few feuds. Going way back to mocking the rising star Iggy Azalea at the BET Awards. Niki was caught on camera spoofing Azalea’s dancing as Iggy preformed her #1 smash, “Fancy”.  Then after beating out Azalea for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Minaj insinuated that Iggy doesn’t write her own raps. There were also her beefs with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lil’ Kim and Remy Ma. And who can forget the Mariah/Minaj war played out on American Idol? When Minaj’s album recently debuted at No. 2 behind Travis Scott’s she accused him of using underhanded tactics to push his album forward and said she wanted to “punch him”. Ms. Minaj has reportedly gone as far as to threatening the lives of Mariah Carey and Cardi B. Things recently got real with Cardi B and Nicki at the now infamous New York Fashion Week smack down. Nicki, we love your music but perhaps letting your talent speak for itself and playing nice with those who may share the spotlight might keep the flying shoes at bay.

J BALVIN'S CHASING HIS DREAM

J Balvin wants to have a huge pop single sung completely in Spanish. This hasn’t happened since 1986 when Los Lobos had a #1 hit with “La Bamba”. Balvin may be on his way with “I Like It” (sung partially in Spanish) by Cardi B with Balvin and Bad Bunny. Balvin says “I wanna make history, I wanna tell my kids, one day when I have them…’Yo, I did this”. Another thing he can tell his kids about is being the subject of YouTube’s documentary series ‘Artist Spotlight Story: Redefining Mainstream”, out this week. Balvin has garnered 5 Billion (yeah that’s with a B) views on YouTube in 2018 alone. Congrats go out to J for his success.

Selena's back with her first song of 2018: Back To You. The track is part of her 13 Reasons Why  Season 2 soundtrack. Gomez says the song was a “very special project” that she wanted to give to the show. She stated “I want it to be a beautiful message in a really complicated way, but really fun”.

WHO IS BAZZI

The 20 year old Michigan native, Bazzi has a certified Platinum hit with his breakthrough single Mine. He started in the biz by posting songs on YouTube then moved to LA to pursue his music career and…oh yeah…finish high school. Bazzi’s talents don’t stop at singing and songwriting though, he says “I’ve been playing guitar since I was 6, and then drums, bass and piano since I was 10 years old.” His debut album Cosmic  just dropped and he plays instruments on all of the albums 16 tracks. Of his smash Mine, Bazzi says the melody for his slinky, love-struck confessional suddenly popped into his head while hanging out with some friends at a pool party and he went to the studio two days later to record it. Apparently I need to spend more time at the pool.
