LUKAS GRAHAM HAS CATHARTIC EXPERIENCE WITH "7 YEARS"

Lukas Graham lived in Buenos Aires and New York after high school but eventually moved back to his home of Denmark to start the band which bears his name. After the unexpected loss of his father, Graham began channeling his grief through songwriting. The result of that process is 7 Years. Graham says in an interview with USA TODAY- “It was definitely cathartic to write – it’s weird to describe what it’s like to lose a parent”. Regarding fan responses to the song he says – “most are quite positive, but some people find it very sad and dispiriting, where I find it empowering. It’s supposed to give you life energy”. 7 Years has certainly resonated with many fans as it is #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Which is perfect timing for the release of their self-titled album dropping today.

It’s been five years since posting one of the band’s first songs on YouTube but this is the year that Graham describes as “amazing”. Also amazing are my plans for remixing 7 Years this week on In The Mix with HK™.

No April foolin’ going on here just straight up jams! This week I’m featuring exclusive HK remixes on Fifth Harmony, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Taylor Swift and many more. Plus brand new bangers from Melanie Martinez, Iggy Azalea and Xenia Ghali. There’s also gonna be a mind blowing re-imagined Beatles track. You heard me! And you don’t want to miss it! It’s all going down right here this weekend on In The Mix with HK™!

CHARLIE PUTH IS AN ARTIST WHO WE WILL SEE AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Although Charlie Puth released his first album just months ago, I think we can safely say, in his words, “We will see you again” and for a long time to come. For artist staying power - luck, blind determination, timing and it factor are all good but mad skills are better and Charlie’s got ‘em. He’s a multi-talented musician, vocalist, producer and hugely versatile songwriter. Oh yeah… and Puth is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. He started playing piano at the age of four and at ten was studying classical and jazz at the Manhattan School of Music in Harlem. He’s come a long way from disguising his voice and pretending to be his own manager while cold-calling record label execs. These days Charlie’s out on tour supporting his new album and appears to be loving every minute of it!

I’m loving every minute of planning this weekend’s party soundtrack for you! I’ll be comin’ in hot with exclusive HK remixes on Troy Sivan, DNCE, Meghan Trainor, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, and Flo Rida. Some great advice for new bands and funny stories will be shared in Part 2 of my interview with Fall Out Boy. Plus new tracks from Flume and Halsey are gonna put the party into overdrive!

PANIC! AT THE DISCO IS VICTORIOUS AS THIS WEEK'S PICK TO HIT™

After four studio albums Panic! At The Disco had its first No. 1 album early this year with Death Of A Bachelor. From that set comes this weeks In The Mix with HKPick To Hit™: Victorious. This American band from Las Vegas has changed a lot since its beginnings in 2004. What started out as a group of four talented high school friends is now down to a one man band: Brendon Urie. This 28 year old multi-instrumentalist, writer, lead singer and recently titled husband, describes the album as his farewell to bachelordom. The single Victorious he calls “celebratory”. It’s an upbeat underdog to winner theme where the message is – the world is one big party!

This week I have one BIG party planned for you when I drop the needle on HK exclusive remixes of Ellie Goulding, Taylor Swift, Flo Rida, Troy Sivan, Gwen Stefani and Lukas Graham. Plus sizzling new tracks from Meghan Trainor, Fifth HarmonyCash Cash featuring Jacquie Lee, and so much more!

Remember…if it's hot, if it's new and it makes you wanna move…you're In The Mix with HK™.

CAN MUSIC STREAMING EVER MAKE MONEY…FOR ANYBODY!

By now you've heard of them all. Companies like Spotify, Pandora and Deezer. Streaming services who constantly throw around subscriber numbers, streaming numbers and Wall St. numbers. And, we keep hearing how "streaming" is "the thing" now versus actual downloading.

Well, despite all the hoopla…these companies are all still struggling to be profitable. Even Tidal – the latest to enter the fray – with its powerhouse list of celebrity owners, can't seem to make a buck. And it's only gonna get worse for these companies when the other 5,000 pound gorillas in the room make some moves. You know them as Apple, Google, YouTube and Amazon. These are the really big sharks in the tank who could squash the other guys even if they were making money. So stream while you can, because I seriously question whether it's a biz model to last. At least not the current way it's being done.

Have no fear cause radio is here to stay and I'll be getting things done in fine style this weekend when I'm throwin' down all your fave hits, some new dance floor stompers and a couple special surprises. Tune in and turn it up to hear HK exclusives on Zara Larsson & MNEK, Twenty One Pilots, Rihanna & Drake, DNCE and Zayn. Plus brand new music from Zendaya, Fifth Harmony, DJ Snake and Sia. Of course that's just a peek into the sonic wonder I've got planned so don't miss a single beat!
