MUSIC COUPLES = EPIC DROPS AND BREAKS

When you're composing music, epic drops and awesome breaks usually translate to a big sounding track and most likely a hit. It's certainly two very important ingredients in EDM. However, for people who make music it takes on a totally different meaning in their personal life.

This week was a perfect example.Katy Perry and John Mayer went their separate ways yet again. These two have been on and off more than a broken light switch. The thing that makes it seem weirder this time is she was just sporting an engagement ring around Valentine's Day. And, the two have been talking marriage for months. Then there's Rihanna and Drake, another on again off again couple. Apparently their on again if you judge by the on stage "grind-o-matic" they displayed at a recent Drake concert. Another stunner was the announcement Robin Thicke and his long-time wife have split. This after a year of the couple publicly speaking about how much they love one another, in the wake of the "Blurred Lines" video controversy. Of course for those of us in the biz I don't think it was a big surprise about Robin, as his lines have always been blurred.

This week on IN THE MIX WITH HK™ I promise to stay focused and passionate. Something that some of our musical artists are having trouble with. Lock it in all weekend long to to hear the kind of epic drops and awesome breaks that make you want to move.

I'm featuring brand new HK remixes on Cash Cash f/Bebe Rexha - "Take Me Home", American Authors - "Best Day Of My Life", Ellie Goulding - "Burn", One Republic - "Counting Stars" and Shakira f/Rihanna - "Can't Remember To Forget You". Plus thumping new HK takes on NoNoNo - "Pumpin Blood", Bastille - "Pompeii", Passenger - "Let Her Go", A Great Big World - "Say Something" and many many more!

There's also more of my exclusive interview with Karmin so don't miss a single beat. It's all goin' down this weekend!

MUSIC OF OLYMPIC PROPORTION

Is music influential to bring home the gold in Sochi? Some scientist say “yes” and so do I. You may have seen athletes jamming out just prior to their event or even with their ear buds on during competition. According to research by sports psychologist Peter Terry - music has been shown to improve endurance performance, assisting people to run 18 percent longer. Also when you are doing the same amount of work while listening to music , you use 1-2 percent less Oxygen. Music can help adjust a person’s confidence and mood. YouTube channel ASAP Science says… “Even during competition, music can narrow an athlete’s attention, diverting the athlete’s sensations of fatigue.”

U.S. Gold medalist Jamie Anderson was seen taking out a set of ear buds after her win in the slopestyle event. Snowboarder Seamus O’Connor of Ireland said  “If I forgot my headphones or if my phone died then I’d be really, really upset. It would definitely change my performance if I didn’t have my music”. American Luger Kat Hansen says “Strictly Beyoncé. My girl Bey. She just gets me fierce and I get stoked and I just have to (dance). I have good mojo going on so it’s just how I roll”.

I’ll have your mojo workin’ when you're listening to In The Mix with HK this weekend. I’ll be throwin’ down remixes of Olympic proportions on…….Pharrell Williams - "Happy", One Republic - "Counting Stars", Shakira & Rihanna - "Can't Remember To Forget You" and Miley Cyrus - "Adore You". And that's just part of the first set. It's gonna be like an Olympic Decathlon leaving you in a pool of sweat by the time I get done with the likes of AviciiZeddPassengerAloe BlaccNoNoNoKaty PerryOne Direction and more!
