POP STARS ARE SELLING MORE THAN MUSIC

Pop stars upped their multiple revenue streams years ago when record sales started to tank. Merch used to be a T-shirt. Now it’s jewelry, shoes, hats, hand bags, even nail polish. Today stars are more serious than ever with their non-music endeavors. Kanye West, J Lo and Selena Gomez (to name a few) have their own clothing lines. Beyoncé is pushing her active wear. Almost every artist has a perfume or cologne. P Diddy is peddling his Ciroc Vodka brand. For an A list artist the simple act of showing up at a fashion show can bring in big Benjamins. But, probably the most creative award goes to Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk. After their hit single, Get Lucky, they branded Get Lucky condoms... I didn’t see that coming. And now it has recently been announced that Taylor Swift has her own line of greeting cards with Papyrus. So you may not get Taylor to sing Happy Birthday to you but you might get one of her cards!

This weekend you’re gonna get all your favorite hits like you’ve never heard them before! Get ready for exclusive HK remixes on Mike Posner, The Chainsmokers feat. Daya, Pink, Nick Jonas, Flume and so many more! I’ll be featuring Shawn Mendes and OneRepublic’s new tracks and throwing in a few surprises that you don’t want to miss!

WILL ZAYN DO IT AGAIN?

Zayn has been busy since exiting One Direction a year ago, saying “I wasn't 100% behind the music. It wasn't me.” Since then his music is all about him, even naming his recently released first solo album Mind of Mine. The first single of that LP, Pillow Talk,  blew up and is still on the charts. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 as well as toping the charts in 68 countries. Now Zayn is pushing his latest track Like I Would. Recent live performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The View have certainly brought the song to the public’s attention. Will Like I Would be the 2nd Zayn monster hit? Check it out on the Pick To Hit™ segment of In The Mix with HK™ this weekend and tweet me with your thoughts @HowardHKKessler.

In the meantime catch up on some rest, cause I'll be hittin' the one's and two's and rockin' your body with the likes of Drake, Fifth Harmony, Sia, Ariana Grande and Mike Posner. Of course they're all like you've never heard them before in pristine custom HK fashion. I've also got new jams from Zedd, One Republic, Timeflies, Selena Gomez and others. Plus a few sonic surprises to crack your cranium!

HK TALKS WITH DAYA - THIS WEEK ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

Daya may be only 17 but she has the pipes and writing skills of a seasoned artist. Billboard described her as a cross between Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor with a hint of Avril Lavigne. I describe her as the next big thing.

Daya slammed into the music scene with her debut single, Hide Away, that has now gone platinum. Then came the colab with The Chainsmokes, Don’t Let Me Down, that’s in the Top 10 and rising. And her new track, the empowering girl anthem, Sit Still Look Pretty, is already making noise. This week I talk with Daya about what a difference a year makes, how she got started in music, high school prom, what it’s like to work with The Chainsmokers and more!

MORE is what we have on tap for you this week on In The Mix with HK™! More of your favorite hits like your never heard them before, more HK remixes and more reasons to turn up the volume! In addition to my backstage interview with Daya, get ready for exclusive HK remixes on Lukas Graham, Fifth Harmony, Jason Derulo, Ariana Grande and Mike Posner! Plus new jams from Meghan Trainor, Adele, One Republic, Ellie Goulding and others. There’s a party over here and it’s all going down right here this weekend!
