DOES THE CROSSOVER KING HAVE ANOTHER HIT!

Calvin Harris has been a busy guy. He’s all over twitter with fresh pics from Armani’s Fall/Winter campaign, spinning at America’s biggest nightclub Hakkasan, dating Taylor Swift (that has to keep you jumpin’) and now he just dropped a new track: How Deep Is Your Love

This time the Scottish, Grammy-winning producer/DJ collaborated with the London electronic trio Disciples. The track is heavy on piano and bass with a trademark pop gloss Harris sheen. Could this be the Summer 2015 jam? You decide, in the meantime…. It’s this weekend’s Pick To Hit™ on In The Mix with HK™.

Calvin’s new one and all your fave summer jams will be getting the HK touch this weekend! I’ll be droppin’ the needle on Fall Out Boy, Little Mix, OMI, Sia, Jason Derulo, Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert and so much more! Don’t miss a single beat!

SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE'S A DJ TODAY!

For me DJing is a sacred creative art form. I keep it pure and mix manually, not by software or computer assist. Don't get me wrong, I'm a tech head. In the studio I'll use whatever it takes to make a track sound the way I want it too. But when I’m spinning it’s all about my hands and ears and the thrill of holding a great beat mix manually without the aid of beat matching software. But that’s just me. DJ Software programs and advances in technology, combined with the popularity of DJing have made it more inviting for people to become DJs. Actors, super models and even sports figures have been drawn to the call of the 1s and 2s. Some are surprising, take “Hodor” for instance, that’s right the guy from Game of Thrones, he’s been out spinning with his “Rave Of Thrones” tour (you gotta love the name). And when Shaquille O’Neal hung up his kicks he picked up two turntables and a microphone and is now DJ Diesel. Shaq will be taking his talents to TomorrowWorld this year. Other celebrities who’ve taken a spin around the decks include: Paris Hilton (paaalease), Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss, Elijah Wood and wait for it…. Prince Harry (WHAT???). I know some of the celeb DJ crop are seriously better at partying than mixing. But hey! The fakers make the real DJ’s look even better and the skilled bring attention to the craft.

I’m bringin' some serious attention to your fave hits this weekend with custom HK remixes on The Weeknd, Major Lazer, The Skrillex-Diplo-Bieber collab, OMI, Selena Gomez, MKTO, Zedd and Taylor Swift. Plus new jams from Nick Jonas, Jess Glynne, Kaya Stewart, Little Mix and more!

ARIANA GRANDE VS. TAYLOR SWIFT - A PUBLIC RELATIONS HOW TO

God knows I love Ariana’s voice and songs. But that donut incident was seriously messed up and Ariana’s getting a lot of shade over it. Since Taylor Swift is one of today's best loved young artists, not to mention "The Most Charitable Celeb of 2014",  I’m thinking taking her lead might be genius. So Ariana here you go:

Ariana:

  1. Only lick donuts that you have purchased. The general public doesn’t like you enough to eat your  saliva.
  2. Never, ever, ever say you hate America… or any country, anyone or pretty much anything. If you must hate something, hate haters. Their always safe.
  3. Do NOT by any means do an insincere video apology that just makes you look even worse.
  4. Do NOT do a second insincere video apology that just makes you look even worse than you did prior to the first lame apology.

Ariana Do Follow Taylor Swift's Lead Here:

  1. Do donate $50,000.00 to help pay the medical bills for a girl with cancer.
  2. Do defend your fellow artists in a professional way and make Apple pay out the royalties that artist have coming to them.
  3. Do ask fans to star in one of your music videos.
  4. Do send Christmas care packages to your biggest fans.
  5. Throw a private concert for a 6-Year-Old with Leukemia.
  6. Bring waiting fans a bunch of Pizzas (I mean, who doesn’t love pizza).
  7. Do visit a fan wo was hit by a car and is getting better after brain surgery (That is sooo nice. I mean, any celeb can give money but when they give their time that is really cool).
  8. Do donate all proceeds from your single about NYC to the NYC public schools.
  9. Study Tay-Tay’s every move and do all the sweet, kind, loving things that she does….Your welcome!
Ok, now that class is out of session, let's turn up the summer heat. Get ready for EXCLUSIVE HK remixes on David Guetta-Nicki Minaj, Skrillex-Diplo-Bieber, Tove Lo, OMI, Andy Grammer, Major Lazer, Ed Sheeran and more! Plus brand new joints from Kaya Stewart, MKTO, Jason Derulo and Jess Glynne.

SHUT UP! NOT A WORD, LAUGH OR COUGH FOR TWO WEEKS!

How would you handle not being able to talk for two or more weeks? Damn! I don't know if I could do it. These days it seems like more stars than ever are on vocal rest or having vocal cord surgery. Meghan Trainor just canceled several shows due to a hemorrhage (YIKES!) on her vocal cords. Sam Smith recently had vocal cord surgery and this week Miranda Lambert canceled an upcoming concert due some serious vocal cord inflammation. Cancellation of shows does not come cheap. When Adele shelved 17 shows due to a polyp on her vocal cord it was an estimated loss of up to 10 million big ones. That’s dollars people. So why are more and more artists canceling shows due to vocal injuries? Many in the biz think it’s a sign of singers being overworked. With record sales down touring is an artist’s best chance to make a buck. It’s now common for artist to tour and record simultaneously. All that overuse and strain on a singers vocal cords can be extremely damaging.

I’m doing some serious damage on the decks this weekend! Get ready for EXCLUSIVE HK remixes on Rachel Platten, The Weeknd, Zedd, Tove Lo, David Guetta, OMI, Taylor Swift and more! Plus brand spankin' new music from Jason Derulo, Adam Lambert, Silento, Demi Lovato, Icona Pop and Audien f/Lady Antebellum
