HK TALKS WITH SHAWN HOOK - THIS WEEK ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

Hot off appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Entertainment Tonight  Shawn Hook joins me this weekend to chat about Canadian fans vs U.S. fans, the long road to success and so much more! His current track Sound Of Your Heart (clicking over 30,000,000 streams on Spotify) introduced him to America but this Canadian singer, songwriter and producer is no overnight success. At the age of 4, Shawn studied piano at The Royal Conservatory and by high school he was playing piano and trombone in a jazz big band while writing and recording his own music. Shawn went on to the Art Institute in Vancouver to study audio engineering. Then in 2004 he released his first album and his passion for music has been growing ever since!

My passion to bring you the best weekend party soundtrack is in overdrive! Sparks will be flying when I drop the needle on custom HK remixes of Zayn, G-Eazy featuring Bebe Rexha, Gwen Stefani, Usher and Mike Posner! I’m also spinnin’ new bangers from Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo and AlunaGeorge! Plus my exclusive interview with Shawn Hook is gonna be off the hook (pun totally intended)! It’s all going down right here this weekend!

HK REMIXES A QUINCY JONES REMAKE

Grace is the 19 year old Australian, singer songwriter who is making noise with her rendition of You Don’t Know Me, the 60’s hit that was originally produced by Quincy Jones for Lesley Gore. After meeting Grace at a charity benefit and hearing her sultry moody voice, Jones suggested the two hit the studio to remake You Don’t Know Me. Amazingly, Grace was exactly Gore’s age when Quincy produced the hit for her. On this go round G-Eazy adds his rhymes, pumping this iconic feminist anthem up with some 21^st century flava. I’m gonna be pumpin’ up the jam this weekend when I remix the remake!

Get ready to turn the volume up when I bust the groves with exclusive HK remixes on Justin Bieber, Twenty One Pilots, Shawn Hook and Flo Rida. Not one to EVER forget the ladies – Selena, Ariana, Iggy, Sia and of course Grace will be lighting up the decks with their hot singles! And that is just getting the party started! Don’t miss a single banging beat!

FAST CAR GETS REDESIGNED AND IS THIS WEEK'S PICK TO HIT™

Jonas Blue the young, up and coming London producer gets his musical cues from pop and classic dance music. But his latest single, Fast Car, came from re-imagining one of his mother’s favorite songs. Jonas says he remembered hearing Tracy Chapman’s classic Fast Car on repeat as a child. Jonas traded the original guitar from the track for an upbeat tropical house sound. He admits that finding the right vocalist was the difficult part.

One night he heard a unique bluesy voice lilting from the basement of an East London pub. The young sultry voice was that of Dakota. The very next day Jonas and Dakota were in the studio to record Fast Car. His rendition has found its way to the top of the Australian charts and this week it hits the decks on In The Mix with HK™. Let me know what you think of the track by giving it a Volume Up or Volume Down on my Twitter @HowardHKKessler.

The volume is gonna be way up this weekend when I unleash exclusive HK remixes on Alessia Cara, Twenty One Pilots, Daya, DNCE, Shawn Mendes and others. Plus new jams from Mike Posner, Robin Schulz and that other Shawn from Canada…Shawn Hook!

CAN SIA STRIKE GOLD WITH REJECTION?

Sia, the highly prolific hit maker, vocalist and songwriter is dropping her latest album This Is Acting next week! It’s comprised of songs she wrote for - and were rejected by - such stars as Katy Perry, Rihanna and Adele. With Sia’s incredible talent and passion chances are good that their loss will be Sia’s gain. The album’s first single Alive was written by Sia, Adele and Tobias Jesso Jr. and produced by Jesse Shatkin who also co-wrote and co-produced Sia’s huge four-time Grammy nominated smash Chandelier. I’m hoping Sia will have us swinging from a chandelier again with her latest outing.

I’m gonna have you swinging from chandeliers when I drop the needle on this weekend’s In The Mix with HK™! Get ready for exclusive HK remixes on…Elle King, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, The Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding and tons more! Plus brand new bangers from David Guetta/Sia, Diplo & Sleepy Tom, Shawn Hook and G-Eazy feat. Bebe Rexha. I'm also gonna revisit a classic from David Bowie and pull another surprise out of my road bag.

IN THE MIX WITH HK™ - PICK TO HIT™ - SHAWN HOOK

This week’s Pick To Hit™ comes from Shawn Hook. He may not be a household name in America yet but his latest single, Sound of Your Heart, has already gone platinum in his native Canada and recently broke 10,000,000 streams on Spotify. Shawn describes the track as being about losing someone and wanting to make it right, even though the chances are slim.

Chances are not slim that he's got wicked talent. Hook is a multi-instrumentalist who started playing piano at age four. He also plays guitar, bass and trombone. As if that wasn’t enough, Hook is a songwriter/vocalist with an impressive range who is now looking forward to introducing his music to America. Shawn moved to LA on New Year’s day and will make his first National Television performance at the end of this month on Kelly and Michael. He debuts with Sound of Your Heart this week on In The Mix with HK™!

Also on tap this weekend is a slammin' musical buffet of all your faves, some brand new bangers and re-imagined classics. I've got exclusive HK remixes on…DNCE, Coldplay, Robin Schulz, Alessia Cara, Justin Bieber and more. I'll also be featuring new music from Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and of course Shawn Hook. It’s all going down right here this weekend!
