RECORDING ARTISTS STILL BANK BIG BUCKS!

Despite record sales continuing to decline some recording artists are still bringing in big bucks. According to Wealth-X’s net worth valuation Madonna is topping the list with a whopping 800 million dollars. Sir Paul McCartney, who used to be on top, dropped to second place with $660m. Dr. Dre came in 3^rd with a not so shabby $650m. I knew I should have invested in headphones. Diddy came in 4^th with $640m and Celine Dion locked up the top 5 with $630m. In case you were wondering there are no financial issues in the Jay Z / Beyoncé house as they rank #8 and #10 with a combined net worth of $950m. Yeah that’s right practically one billion! That’s just a crazy amount of zeros.

Despite being on top of the world and now in the NFL Hall of Fame, Michael Strahan and his longtime girlfriend Nicole Murphy officially broke up. Nicole decided to drop the news just as Michael was being inducted. Woman scorned or coincidence? You decide. In the meantime, there's been a lot of rumors about Beyonce and Jay Z entering splitsville. Lady B was spotted checking out a new apartment alone, and in a brand new remix she blasts the Hov! Maybe we'll eventually find out what really lead up to the now famous elevator brawl. In another hotel incident Ed Sheeran sings his heart out and bares all in his latest hit single Don't, which is all about a break up for him and a hookup for his ex!

On a positive note – while frolicking in Ibiza, Spain Michelle Rodriguez and Zac Effron made out like two horny teenagers in a club. That hookup took place just a day after Michelle was frolicking on a boat with Justin Bieber. Ahh, to be young, famous and wealthy!

CRAZY STUPID WEEK IN MUSIC!

As Prince said…"Let's Get Crazy". Although, I don't think he had the following in mind. Shakira, who I love and has a great voice, performed her new song "Empire" (which I think is a monster hit) on The Voice. Here’s where it gets crazy…she’s a judge on a hit music competition show and she lip-synced! I'm sorry people, but that just doesn't send the right message to contestants and viewers alike. Especially when this little pint sized momma can sing her a_ _ off. Come on…really? 

If you don't think that's crazy I've got some stupid for you. An old recording engineer who worked with Jay Z back in the day tried to extort $100, 000 from the hip-hop Don. Apparently he was holding on to master recordings worth an estimated 15-20 million dollars and he reached out to cut a deal. They setup a meeting at the storage facility where the tapes were being held and the only people there to greet the would-be extortionist were the cops. Dah! Do you think the Roc-a-wear tycoon was gonna go along for that ride. No! Now the courts will decide what happens to those masters.

Imagine Dragons On Tour And In The Mix with HK (Photos)

Imagine Dragons is currently on tour and I recently caught one of their shows with opening act Atlas Genius. What I love about these guys  is their melding of sounds drawn from many different influences and their intuitive take on the right elements for a commercial single. The group is currently riding high on the charts with "It's Time" from the album Night Visions. Justin Timberlake is on fire! Several successful movies behind him (proving he can hold his own on the big screen), a recent marriage to another Hollywood hottie, a smokin' hot new single with Jay-Z (first music in a loooong time – due to that new acting career), a spot on performance at the Grammy Awards and the announcement of a new summer tour. Hey! what's the matter? Not enough for you? Well, we wouldn't want him to get bored, so how about the latest JT news. He's recorded a song with Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons. Ok! You just gave yourself whiplash. I know, I thought the same thing. It's a track for a new Coen Brothers movie - "Inside Llewyn Davis", which Justin is also starring in.
