SUPER BOWL WEEKEND - SUPER MUSIC ON IN THE MIX WITH HK™

We all love the BIG GAME, but don’t underestimate the entertainment for heating up the field! First, there’s the singing of the National Anthem. Music legend, Atlanta native and seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight will do the honors this year. Gladys Knight may be the first to musically score but three time Grammy winners Maroon 5 are set to be the halftime MVP with Travis Scott as guest! If you don’t have a horse in the race the game is an opening act to the headlining halftime show. A no holds barred extravaganza, not to mention a virtual album seller as well as pressure cooker for the artists invited to the party. Performing for one of the world’s biggest audiences for twelve minutes, all the while trying to make a memorable and definitive statement…no worries right? With the killer halftime show, commercials you actually might want to watch, fun food and oh yeah…the championship football game of the year too, you gotta love Super Bowl Sunday!

SO WHO IS BENNY BLANCO?

Benny Blanco’s been ridiculously successful as a producer, writer and multi-instrumentalist for years. He’s crafted a crazy amount of hit tracks including Ed Sheeran – Castle On The Hill, Justin Beiber - Love Yourself, Maroon 5 – Moves Like Jagger, Julia Michaels – Issues, Major Lazer – Cold Water, Katy Perry- California Gurls, Rihanna – Diamonds, Kesha – Tick Tok and more. Now for the first time under his own name Benny Blanco has a top 10 hit with his new single; Eastside featuring Khalid and Halsey. Although Blanco doesn’t like being in the spotlight he started thinking about becoming a solo artist to have more creative control. Benny told Rolling Stone… I remember asking all my friends and peers: “Hey, should I do this? Kind of hoping they’d be like, Dude, shut the **** up and just do what you’re supposed to do and produce the songs!” But every single person was like, “Oh my God, I can’t believe you haven’t done it yet!”

PANIC! AT THE DISCO'S "HIGH HOPES" ARE PAYING OFF

The aspirational hit song High Hopes has climbed to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The tracks strong triumph over adversity lyrics, “Had to have high, high hopes for a living. Shooting for the stars when I couldn’t make a killing. Didn’t have a dime but I always had a vision.”, are resonating with diehard and new Panic! At The Disco fans. Frontman Brendon Urie explained the meaning behind the song and what inspired the lyrics in a tweet saying – “I spent too long not setting my expectations high enough, worried about how it felt to fail. I hit a point when I realized I had to aim high and fail, fail, fail in order to keep growing.” Congrats go out to Urie on Panic!’s success and his smash hit.

ARIANA GRANDE IS EXTRA GRANDE

Last week Ariana Grande was named Billboard’s 2018 Woman of the Year. This week Ariana has her first Hot 100 #1 song EVER with her ode to ex-boyfriends… thank u, next!  With all of her success it’s seriously hard to believe this is her first #1. And, this smash didn’t crawl its way up the chart - it debuted at the top with just over five days of streaming and sales. Ariana tweeted her happiness for this new milestone writing “yeeeeee baby’s first number one.” thank you next has also become the fastest song in HISTORY (Say What?!) to ever surpass 100 million Spotify streams. Congrats to Ariana, she’s having a good month!

NICKI MINAJ HAS BIG BEATS & BIG BEEFS

No one can dispute that Nicki Minaj can spit and make hit tracks but her mission to come out on top has landed her in more than a few feuds. Going way back to mocking the rising star Iggy Azalea at the BET Awards. Niki was caught on camera spoofing Azalea’s dancing as Iggy preformed her #1 smash, “Fancy”.  Then after beating out Azalea for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Minaj insinuated that Iggy doesn’t write her own raps. There were also her beefs with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lil’ Kim and Remy Ma. And who can forget the Mariah/Minaj war played out on American Idol? When Minaj’s album recently debuted at No. 2 behind Travis Scott’s she accused him of using underhanded tactics to push his album forward and said she wanted to “punch him”. Ms. Minaj has reportedly gone as far as to threatening the lives of Mariah Carey and Cardi B. Things recently got real with Cardi B and Nicki at the now infamous New York Fashion Week smack down. Nicki, we love your music but perhaps letting your talent speak for itself and playing nice with those who may share the spotlight might keep the flying shoes at bay.
