LADIES RULE THE CHARTS

2019 is shaping up to be the year of female music chart domination. In 2018 solo female stars hit #1 on the chart for 11 weeks. Just a few months into 2019 and the ladies have already matched that number with Ariana Grande and Halsey leading the charge. If Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift drop new music this year and Ariana keeps clicking off hits, plus P!nk’s new album comes out April 26^th...the ladies are gearing up for one great year!

Last week Ariana Grande was named Billboard’s 2018 Woman of the Year. This week Ariana has her first Hot 100 #1 song EVER with her ode to ex-boyfriends… thank u, next!  With all of her success it’s seriously hard to believe this is her first #1. And, this smash didn’t crawl its way up the chart - it debuted at the top with just over five days of streaming and sales. Ariana tweeted her happiness for this new milestone writing “yeeeeee baby’s first number one.” thank you next has also become the fastest song in HISTORY (Say What?!) to ever surpass 100 million Spotify streams. Congrats to Ariana, she’s having a good month!

DON'T SAY "NEVERMIND" TO DENNIS LLOYD'S HIT TRACK

Dennis Lloyd grew up in Tel Aviv where at the age of 8 he began playing piano and at 13 taught himself to play guitar. He attended an art school for Jazz where he says people told him not to sing. Lloyd states “If I would have listened to them I wouldn’t be here”. At 21 he moved to Bangkok to focus on writing songs and producing music and it was there that he wrote Nevermind. Lloyd attributes the success of the song partly to an article that his mom gave him about a kid in Denmark who made a remix of a Nathan Goshen song and it blew up on Spotify. “So I remixed my own song and it worked. No one knows I did it, most people do not know that I’m producing it myself from beat stage to the master.” His self-remixed track has been a pan-European/international hit and just entered the U.S. Top 40 Pop Chart this week.
